The Scheck Hillel soccer team stepped onto the field against Gulliver Prep knowing they were facing one of the highest-ranked teams in Florida for years. Tension filled the air as the Lions prepared for the match, though they were confident in their training and teamwork. Despite their nerves, the team showed determination from the opening kickoff, matching Gulliver Prep in intensity and refusing to back down.
“We knew this game would test us, but we trusted each other and gave everything we had,” said junior Rafael Chaberman, a member of the Scheck Hillel team. Chaberman stated that while Gulliver Prep was one of the strongest and most highly ranked programs in the country over the past several years, he never doubted his team’s potential.
“I felt confident in our team even knowing how good they are,” he said. “Before I scored, I felt like we were playing really well and that we truly had a chance to win.” That belief paid off when Chaberman scored an incredible goal, ending the game with a 1-0 victory for the Scheck Hillel Lions. “I was extremely happy and relieved. It felt amazing to see all our hard work pay off in that moment,” he said.
