After the horrific events that started unfolding in Israel on October 7th, the Scheck Hillel community must stay together united and strong. Many of our peers responded differently to these events and confronted the tough situation in their own way. The school had an assembly upon returning from break. At the assembly, we all learned that this conflict was much more personal than it seemed. When Rabbi Leubitz asked students and faculty members if they had family in Israel, nearly all of the students stood up, showing that we were all being affected by this terrifying scenario. Scheck Hillel is a family, and right now, our family in Israel is being attacked, and we are all being impacted by it.
Such a conflict has not occurred in over fifty years and it is only natural that pain be felt throughout campus. These are unprecedented times, and we need to lean on those who care for us for emotional support. As a nation, we have always succeeded because we have stuck together. So why should now be different? We should not let terror tear us apart. We have always persevered through tough times and we will continue to do so. As of now, the best thing to do to help our Israeli brothers and sisters is to reach out and make sure they are okay, pray for them, and, if possible, donate to worthy causes that will help make a difference.
Even though some have suffered more than others, we all must stay strong together. United, we stand. Divided, we fall. Please continue to support our beloved brethren. Am Yisrael Chai!
