Scheck Hillel’s tennis team kicked off their season in dominant fashion, securing a 6-1 victory over AIE Charter. In their first match of the year, the Lions won all five singles matches, and won one of two doubles matches before closing out the day.
Leading the charge was team captain Daniel Sutton, who put on a fascinating performance in his 6-1 singles victory. Sutton’s power and precision were on full display as he racked up an impressive five aces and 20 winners. His commanding play set the tone for the Lions’ success.
Not far behind, Alejandro Strulovic showcased his own dominance with a 6-0 victory, tallying seven aces and 18 winners in a near-flawless performance. His aggressive style and precise shot-making left his opponent with no answers. “I just went out there and played my game,” said Strulovic. “When I’m locked in, I know I can take control of the match. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the team—everyone showed up today, and that’s what matters most.”
Meanwhile, Aaron Benaceraf, ranked 99th in the state of Florida, cruised easily to a 6-0 victory by firing seven aces and overwhelming his opponent with over 20 winners. As of now, the Lions kick off the season with a 1-0 record and are prepared to face Cushman in their next match!
