Here at Scheck Hillel, sports play a central role in fostering our school’s spirit. Among our school’s wide range of athletic activities, soccer and basketball stand out as the most popular. Members of all of these teams work hard throughout the year by balancing both their extracurriculars and their academics. Whether on the field or the court, these athletes give it their all, showcasing dedication, teamwork, and passion in the process.
Scheck Hillel’s soccer teams are best known for their unmatched skills on the playing field and their members’ enthusiasm. From the first game of the season to the final whistle, they have clearly demonstrated the rewarding effects that come with hard work and practice. The current record of the Boys Varsity soccer team lies at 11 wins, zero losses, and one draw. Their most recent wins were against Doral Academy with a score of 3-2, as well as a historic 2-0 win against NSU University School. Varsity Girls Soccer has also played fairly well, with their most recent wins being an amazing 4-0 against SLAM and a 3-1 versus Katz Yeshiva.
Similarly, our Lions on the basketball courts have brought plenty of excitement to the gym, despite their many ups and downs. The Varsity Boys Basketball team has played a total of six games. While they are yet to secure a victory, they are determined to use these losses as motivation to make their next games really count. Girls Varsity Basketball, on the other hand, has scored three wins out of the seven games they have participated in, with their most recent ones being against Jewish Culture and Don Soffer. Meanwhile, Boys Junior Varsity Basketball has achieved victory in two games out of six.
All of the above mentioned teams (and many more!) are training under the guidance of strong coaches that encourage growth and improvement. As part of their teachings, these staff members emphasize the importance of discipline, strategy, teamwork, and fairness in sports. However, these meaningful lessons go beyond athletics, teaching our student athletes life skills such as resilience and leadership. They are not just playing to win, but also to embrace their love for their respective sports and their pride for their school. Scheck Hillel Community Day School is behind them in cheering for their success and celebrating their hard work.
