“I’ve been a part of Hillel since kindergarten, and it has always been so much more than just a school to me—it’s truly felt like home,” said Haime. “Growing up surrounded by a tight-knit Jewish community gave me a deep connection to my Judaism and Jewish identity, something I’ve come to value more than I can put into words. Hillel has shaped me into the person I am today, helping me grow not only academically but also as a leader and a person who cares deeply about giving back. The importance of contributing to the community is something I learned here, and it’s inspired me to pursue my passion for working with children. One of my favorite experiences was working as a camp counselor at sleep away camp, where I was able to guide and connect with so many kids in a meaningful way. I’ve also been a dance teacher for the past four years, building relationships with my students that have brought so much joy and fulfillment into my life.”
“Another amazing opportunity was helping Ms. Penchev start the STEM club for lower school girls. This project let me combine my love for science and math with my desire to encourage and inspire younger students,” she added. “Outside of school, I love dancing, playing volleyball, and baking with my mom—some of my favorite ways to recharge and stay grounded. I’m so grateful to Hillel for not just being a place where I could grow academically, but also for giving me a community that feels like family. I can’t imagine my life without the incredible experiences, lessons, and friendships I’ve had here, and I’ll always carry that with me.”
