“I was 19 years old when I met my wife at an Israel Zionist Shabbaton in the Catskills of New York. I met the girl who would become my best friend- a woman who stood out to me most. My best friend and I decided to attend Hebrew University together. After spending time together in israel, something clicked in both our minds that we were meant to be together: something like fate. I decided I wanted to marry my best friend Rachael. I mustered the words to tell my parents that at 19 years old, only a junior in college, I wanted to stand under the Huppa and marry this woman. My parents were not so happy with me and did not approve of such a young marriage. After a long conversation of explaining that I felt Hashem meant for us to be together, they better understood. Yet, I knew what I felt and I decided to marry her. We got married the next summer at 21 years old with one semester of college left. 12 years and 3 kids later, I feel blessed to spend my anniversary with my wife this week on August 22nd. One thing I know is that no matter the case, the heart will always lead you in the right direction.”
