Tom Brady, otherwise referred to as the GOAT (greatest of all time), has now retired after twenty-two infernal seasons in the NFL. During this twenty-two years career, Tom Brady played in ten Super Bowls and won seven of them. He also won three regular-season MVP awards, participated in six All-Pro seasons, received five Super Bowl MVP awards, and leads in every single category a quarterback can possibly qualify for. There has never been any player that has had such a large impact on the world of sports as this GOAT has.
Growing up, the young legend attended San Francisco 49ers games to watch his infamous idol, Joe Montana, play in the 1980s. Throughout his high school career, Brady excelled in both football and baseball however he eventually decided to follow the path for a football career; he became the starting quarterback for the University of Michigan. Being a low-tier prospect, Brady did not start until his junior year of college when he led Michigan to a victorious Orange Bowl and gained the ever-lasting reputation of both an intelligent and dedicated player. The following year he was chosen by the New England Patriots in the sixth round as he was once again, underestimated as a quality football player. During the second game of the 2001 season, the Patriots starting quarterback was injured which finally became Brady’s time to shine. That very season, Tom Brady was able to turn around the Patriots season and go on to become a Super Bowl champion, winning the first of his many rings.
Over and over again, Brady rose against all of the doubters and haters. Even the many Super Bowls that he would go to win, everyone still seemed to doubt Brady’s capability to win a Super Bowl as there was no greater doubt than in the 2017 season. In 2017, Tom Brady’s New England Patriots faced off against Matt Ryan’s Atlanta Falcons. Towards the end of the third quarter, the Patriots seemed to have already lost the game as they were losing 28 -3 however, a person should never count Tom Brady out. In a historic comeback, Brady brought his team back from a 25 point deficit and the Super Bowl would go into the first-ever overtime in the game’s history. There, Tom Brady would once again make history as he completed the comeback beating the Falcons 34 – 28.
Tom Brady played his final NFL game in the divisional round of this year’s playoffs as he suffered a tragic loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Coming off a Super Bowl-winning season, Tom Brady sought to once again take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and become back-to-back world champions. Unfortunately, his trip was cut short by Mathew Stafford and the Rams who relentlessly didn’t take his foot off the Bucs’ neck. Yet, unlike before, Tom Brady will never be undermined again as he will go down as the greatest football player to ever roam the earth.
Daniel Brown, class of 2023, had many things to say about his hero Tom Brady. He said, “There’s nothing much to say about Brady besides the fact that he’s the greatest. No one has even been as good as him and frankly, no one will ever reach his standards. I hate to admit the fact that he has retired but the sport of football will never be the same without him.” Allan Strimber, class of 2023, took a similar approach as he said, “I don’t hate Tom Brady, I DESPISE him; still, there’s nothing bad I can say about him. He is the greatest football player ever and that is extremely difficult to admit considering I am a fanatic Dolphins fan.” One of Brady’s most beloved fans is Rabbi Sprung. He shared a few simple words about this hero, “He learns your capabilities and adjusts accordingly. Brady solves for X.”
Tom Brady’s retirement is both a tragedy and a miracle in the world of sports. All sports lovers around the world commemorate the greatness that is Tom Brady as he had finally played his final game in his football career.
