The day we all have anticipated has passed, and now let’s give a warm welcome to our high school presidents Lauren Rub and Jonathan Woldenberg. It was a very tough competition since her fellow competitors were also a great fit for the job, but the student body made up its mind and chose the two that would be ideal for the school.
While walking through the hallway I had the chance to bump into Lauren Rub, and was able to ask her some questions. When I asked Lauren how it felt to win, she replied, “I felt happy since I have been dreaming of this ever since I was in ninth grade.” She followed up with all of her goals for each grade. For the freshmen class she wants to help fundraise for the ninth grade Israel trip. When reminiscing about her ninth grade trip, she recalled it as a “life changing experience” and she hopes the freshmen come back with the same mindset she had, which is an even stronger connection to Israel. For the sophomores and juniors, Lauren is planning unforgettable shabbatons. She will make sure she helps the 10th and 11th grade class presidents come up with unique ideas in order to make their experience amazing. For her fellow seniors, she cannot wait to dedicate endless hours of planning fundraisers, movie nights, and spirit week; the possibilities are endless. Lauren will strive to be the best president for her classmates and make sure to have them involved in every way possible. She makes it her ultimate goal to make sure all voices are heard by allowing the students to share their opinion in any type of platform that they prefer. Lauren is thrilled at the opportunity to work alongside Jonathan Woldenberg, her co-president, to bring out the best in both student government and the student body.
With the year ahead of us, the student body looks forward to a memorable 2017-2018 experience at Scheck Hillel.
