“A year after graduating from Hillel in 2002, I had a sinus surgery. There were complications in the recovery room, and I ended up not being able to breathe for an hour and a half. I had suffered from a stroke. So at 19 years old, I had to relearn everything like how to sit, write, walk, and do math. I started from the very beginning. After going through this experience, I learned to confront any challenges that may come my way. I worked hard to graduate from university, and I had a lot of help. Despite all the adversity, I was still able to accomplish my dream to become a teacher at Hillel. I am extremely proud to have the opportunity to give back to the school that made me who I am today. No matter what challenges come your way, rise and succeed. You have one life to live, so live it to the maximum. If I were to give one piece of advice, it would be to never give up.”
