“In 2017, my dad was diagnosed with ALS — a disease that affects nerve cells — eventually causing them to break down and shut down the functionality in the muscles. This was a huge blow to my family, at first, because we really had no idea what was to come. The doctors had prepared us for the worst, and we worked to make the best of something completely unknown. Thankfully, we are blessed to be immersed in such an amazing community. I don’t know what my family, and most importantly my dad, would have done without the amazing support of the people around us. Everyday, my dad has a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He is my inspiration and who I look up to everyday as the man I want to be when I grow up. I am very thankful to attend a school with such amazing people who give me all the support, especially when I need it the most!”
