Andrew Butler

“Back when I was around seven or eight years old, I wanted to become a teacher when I grew up. I often would imagine myself as a teacher when playing with my little sisters and her friends. The only problem with my dream was that my parents didn’t really approve of it. Because of this, I put it aside, and just like the rest of my family, I took a career path leading towards law. After studying English and history at The University of Pennsylvania, I attended Columbia University School of Law, but I put being a lawyer aside and tried teaching for a year. I fell in love with it right away, and taught in Manhattan for close to a decade before coming down south to paradise. At Hillel, I got involved in programs that go way beyond teaching including coaching the Men’s Volleyball Team and running the Gilinski Hillel Ambassador program. What I love most about teaching is getting to choose my own curriculum and sharing my passion with my students. The kids keep me young and smiling, and this is something I can see myself doing for a long time!”
